Online Sexual Misconduct and Addiction: Psychological Evaluations and Risk Assessment

In this clinically insightful and highly relevant session, Dr. Hy Malinek examines the psychological underpinnings of online sexual misconduct through the lens of behavioral addiction and trauma-informed mental health evaluation. He explores how compulsive online behavior, including illegal or inappropriate digital sexual activity, can arise from treatable conditions such as impulse control disorders, PTSD, or unresolved trauma. Dr. Malinek provides defense attorneys with critical tools for understanding, evaluating, and presenting psychological risk assessments in court. Lawyers who watch this program will gain a deeper ability to humanize their clients, counter prosecutorial narratives with clinical evidence, and advocate for therapeutic interventions over punitive outcomes. This session is a must-watch for defenders handling cases where mental health, addiction, and online behavior intersect.
