How to Succeed in Private Practice

This program provides a practical, experience-driven roadmap for building and sustaining a successful criminal defense practice. It breaks private practice success into three essential stages: signing up clients, delivering satisfactory legal services, and getting paid in full. Rather than focusing on theory, the program addresses the real-world business challenges criminal defense lawyers face every day—making the phone ring, converting inquiries into retained clients, and operating a practice that is both ethical and financially sustainable.

Criminal defense lawyers who watch this program will gain actionable guidance on marketing, intake, and first-contact strategy. It covers traditional and digital advertising, peer referrals, online reviews, and modern intake tools, while also addressing who should handle incoming calls, how quickly to respond, and what prospective clients need to hear to feel confident and reassured. The program also tackles the growing role of technology and AI in law practice, highlighting both its potential benefits and serious risks, including confidentiality concerns and reliability issues.

The program concludes with a candid discussion of client management, expectations, and fee collection. Lawyers will learn how to define the scope of representation, manage difficult clients, implement effective case-management systems, and structure fee agreements that reduce disputes and collection problems. By focusing on risk management, quality control, and sustainable payment practices, this program equips criminal defense attorneys with practical tools to run a more efficient, profitable, and lower-stress practice.
